Reap & Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb

Pretty Purple Covers & Sassy Demons

When a gorgeous purple cover delivers a story that’s just as vibrant on the inside, you know you’ve hit the jackpot. I flew through this one during my work-from-home shift today, and the absolute thrill of going to grab the cover art only to realize it’s a series? Pure joy.

What makes it even better is realizing this is a debut—and honestly, what a phenomenal first novel! Eda had me screaming “Stopppp!” at my Kindle screen right out of the gate, but even when she’s making reckless choices, it’s impossible not to root for her. Enter Kit’rath—a terrible name, but a demon with dark hair and sassy charm automatically gets +1000 points. He’s hilarious (his sarcastic lecture when Eda and Tripp were bickering made me laugh out loud), but what really sold me was his unexpected sensitivity. Having the demon be the one holding onto hope while Eda is jaded and bitter was such a fresh dynamic.

Between a romance that was to die for, side characters that added so much charm, and the whole concept of the mirror, I was completely hooked. The world feels authentic and lived-in, especially with the intricate lore of the faith system. What gave it real heart, though, was the grief dynamic between Eda and her brothers. While she only sees a selfish father who sacrificed his kids (and groomed her via Mr. Night), her brothers mourn the good dad they remember—and that tension, paired with her bond with the demon they owe, adds so many genuine layers.

I have a feeling that I will want to listen to this in audiobook so I can get fully lost in this world again.
